Fortinet Discovers WordPress Image Hover Effects Ultimate Plugin Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability
Summary
Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in WordPress Image Hover Effects Ultimate Plugin.
WordPress Image Hover Effects Ultimate Plugin is an impressive, lightweight, responsive Image hover effects gallery. It is best used for portfolio/gallery/image showcase items in WordPress site using shortcodes and custom post.
The Image Hover Effects Ultimate plugin is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the Media Image URL value that can be added to an Image Hover due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
